By now you may have heard about NY State MLS, www.nystatemls.com the new Statewide Multiple Listing Service, but you may know much about it. NY State MLS is just what its name implies, a MLS for the entire state. Real Estate Agents in New York need a way to get more exposure for their listings. Many agents need to pay for more than 1 MLS just to effectively service their sellers and buyers, and as you already know, belonging to all the necessary MLSs is cost prohibitive.

NY State MLS is not a feed from your current MLS. It is a real full service MLS with Agent Full listings and commission splits. Agents must enter their listings into the system and keep them updated, but since listing data can import from the public record, entering listings is easy. There is also a statewide property tax look-up for premium members.

The current basic membership is free and becoming a member is easy. Just log on to www.nystatemls.com, click become a member (no credit card is required to sign up). Tell your sellers that you will post their listing in the Statewide MLS, it will help when you are out on those listing appointments.

Good Luck, and we hope you sell lots of houses this year.
